His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the Minister of Economy and Tourism, has confirmed the stability of food supplies in the United Arab Emirates, highlighting a significant abundance of fruits and vegetables in the markets along with a noticeable decrease in prices.
He attributed this price drop to the continuous influx of new shipments of products and agricultural produce from various countries around the globe, and he anticipates that the trend of decreasing prices will continue in the coming days as additional supplies arrive in the markets.
These remarks were made during an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) following a field visit to the fruit and vegetable market in the Al Awir area of Dubai. The primary goal of this visit was to closely monitor market activity, observe price levels, assess the availability of food products, and ensure that the market is fully prepared to meet the country’s food supply needs.
He noted that the overall picture clearly reflects a significant abundance of crops coming from different regions, with prices decreasing markedly; some items were seen at prices that had not been recorded just days earlier.
During his visit, the Minister took care to oversee the unloading of some new food shipments, receiving assurances from traders that unloading operations would continue today and throughout the upcoming days. Traders indicated that the arrival of these additional shipments of essential food items would directly enhance the available supply in the markets, thereby supporting the ongoing downward trend in prices for consumers.
In closing, His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri urged consumers to be cautious with their purchases and to only acquire what they genuinely need, warning against excessive stockpiling of goods.
He emphasized that products are available and accessible to everyone, with no shortages in supplies. He also reaffirmed that the Ministry of Economy continues to play its role through diligent monitoring of market conditions, being open to all suggestions and complaints, and working to alleviate any challenges consumers may encounter.
