Do Launches a Strategic Partnership with Huawei

Du has announced the signing of a strategic memorandum of understanding with Huawei aimed at collaborating to accelerate the development of the advanced fifth-generation (5G+) network. This initiative seeks to deliver unprecedented communication experiences and services with speeds reaching up to 10 gigabits per second for customers across the UAE.

The partnership focuses on enhancing Du’s wireless communication infrastructure to support ultra-broadband capabilities, allowing maximum speeds of 10 gigabits per second both indoors and outdoors.

A key element of this initiative is the deployment of U6G technology, which facilitates the aggregation of high-frequency bands to provide superior connectivity speeds and next-generation communication experiences that redefine customer interactions with digital services.

Enhancing Experiences

Salim Al-Balooshi, Chief Technology Officer at Du, stated, “Du is committed to continually enhancing customer experiences and exploring new avenues for growth and innovation. Our strategic collaboration with Huawei accelerates our evolution toward delivering high-speed connectivity in the 10 gigabits per second category, supports the development of innovative services, and opens new avenues for added value in emerging sectors such as autonomous mobility and low-altitude aviation activities.”

Du plans to implement advanced digital systems within buildings that combine current capabilities of the TDD 3CC technology and U6G, along with sophisticated indoor coverage solutions. This aims to establish high-performance connectivity zones with speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second in essential locations throughout the UAE, including shopping centers, hotels, exhibition sites, airports, and tourist attractions, ensuring robust connections that maintain consistent performance both inside and outside buildings.

Integrated Approach

This comprehensive approach guarantees connectivity capabilities at the 10 gigabit level across various network components, encompassing spectrum strategy, radio access network development, and transport capabilities, as well as the core infrastructure for a standalone fifth-generation (5G) network. Additionally, Du’s advanced network capabilities allow for the exploration of innovative models to derive value from digital services by providing premium service offerings. Customers will benefit from multi-tier service packages that include speed-based solutions, enhanced data transfer options, and tailored communication packages to meet diverse usage needs.

The collaboration also entails exploring new market opportunities afforded by advanced 5G+ technology, particularly in emerging sectors such as low-altitude aviation economies and autonomous mobility applications like robotaxi services, where ultra-high speeds, advanced data performance, ultra-low latency, and high reliability are critical for real-time data processing and transmission.

Key Milestone

This new agreement marks a pivotal step in the successful collaboration between Du and Huawei, emphasizing a mutual commitment to advancing the next phase of 5G+ technology, enhancing innovation in communication experiences, and benefiting customers in the UAE while establishing new standards of excellence within the regional telecommunications sector.

Accelerating Innovation

Li Jie, Head of the TDD Wireless Network Product Line at Huawei, expressed enthusiasm for strengthening their long-term partnership with Du. “Through this collaboration, we will work together to accelerate innovation in the second phase of advanced 5G technology, enhance intelligent network capabilities, and explore new business models that leverage ultra-high-speed connectivity in the 10 gigabits per second category, thus ensuring sustainable and high-quality network development.”

Network intelligence is a significant focus of the collaboration between Du and Huawei, with both parties committed to implementing AI-supported optimization technologies and self-operating network processes. This will enhance spectral efficiency, improve service quality, and increase operational efficiency. The partnership also emphasizes the adoption of energy-efficient technologies and smart energy management systems to support sustainable and environmentally friendly network development.
