British Boxing Champion Anthony Joshua Moves to Live in Dubai

Former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has announced his intention to leave the United Kingdom and settle in Dubai, a significant decision that highlights the allure of the city for the wealthy and celebrities, even amid regional tensions.

The 36-year-old Joshua, who was born in Watford to Nigerian parents, represented Britain and won a gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics. According to the Daily Mail, he has taken a bold step to establish his residence in Dubai.

This move was revealed in documents submitted on Friday to set up his £150 million business empire, where he was required to specify his country of residence.

The documents indicate that Joshua is steadfast in his decision to change his residency status, despite the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

The Daily Mail attributes Joshua’s choice to Dubai’s excellent climate and world-class facilities, which are major attractions for those looking to live there. Additionally, the emirate is extremely popular among the affluent for its lack of income tax.

Joshua’s company, Sparta Promotions, reported profits of £20.396 million and paid £6.65 million in taxes in the UK for the year 2024.
