27.3 Thousand Hotel Rooms Added in Dubai Over Five Years

The hotel sector in Dubai has been experiencing remarkable growth in capacity over the last five years, with the addition of over 27,300 new hotel rooms, showcasing the continuous expansion of the emirate’s accommodation capabilities alongside a thriving tourism market.

This growth reflects the market’s response to the rising demand for hotel stays from visitors and tourists, coming both from Gulf Cooperation Council countries and regions such as Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

According to official data, at the beginning of 2020, Dubai had approximately 711 hotel establishments featuring 126,947 rooms. By the end of 2025, this number is projected to rise to around 827 hotels offering 154,264 rooms.

This indicates that over this period, the market added 116 new establishments and 27,300 rooms, contributing to an overall increase in hotel capacity of about 21.5% within just five years.

This expansion is part of Dubai’s strategy to strengthen its position as one of the top global tourist destinations, supported by various factors. These include the diversity of tourism products available, ranging from luxury hotels to mid-range and budget options, and continuous marketing efforts promoting the emirate as a hub for conferences, exhibitions, and major global events, including Expo 2020 Dubai and other significant tourism and business happenings.

The growth of hotel establishments also reflects investor confidence in Dubai’s tourism and hospitality sector, which is a key pillar of the local economy. It directly supports economic growth, boosts tourism revenue, and creates significant job opportunities for both locals and residents.

This trend further enhances Dubai’s ability to attract global investments, particularly from international hospitality and hotel companies looking to expand in the Middle East.

Despite challenges related to fluctuations in the global economy and energy prices, the expansion in the hotel sector indicates that Dubai has managed to maintain its investment appeal. This is achieved through ongoing improvements in hospitality infrastructure and tourism services, alongside continuous investments in modern hospitality projects catering to the needs of various traveler segments.

Industry experts anticipate that the growth of hotels in Dubai will continue in the coming years, focusing on luxury hotel projects and tourist resorts while also developing mid-range and budget hotels to accommodate a larger number of tourists, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the emirate on both regional and international levels.

This expansion signifies a long-term strategy for Dubai to uphold its status as a leading tourist destination, supporting the national economy and increasing the tourism sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product.
