During its annual general meeting, the Indian Business and Professional Council in Dubai reaffirmed its crucial role in facilitating collaboration between the United Arab Emirates and India, reiterating its commitment to strengthening bilateral economic relations in line with the long-term strategic visions of both nations.
Sidharth Palashandran, the council’s president, emphasized the robust relationship shared between the two friendly countries, highlighting that the mission and significance of the council are fundamental to achieving mutual prosperity.
He mentioned the council’s role as a unified institutional platform that continues to empower the Indian business community in the UAE through cooperation, flexibility, and a shared forward-looking vision.
The council also announced a year marked by growth and exceptional interaction, characterized by a significant expansion in its membership base and a strong shift towards inclusivity, particularly with increased participation of women.
Dr. Sahitya Chaturvedi was re-elected for a second term as Secretary-General, and leaders for key sectors aimed at enhancing cooperation between the UAE and India were elected. These sectors include health, education, wellness, and pharmaceuticals, led by Srikumar Bramanandan from Dubai Investments; financial services and capital markets, led by Sani Narang from HSBC; technology, digital innovation, and innovation, led by Karthik Raman from Rivdu; professional and business services, led by James Matthew from UHY James; real estate and the built environment, led by Rajeev Neelvithil from ESBA; energy and climate, led by Advait Thakur; and hospitality and tourism, led by Amit Vardan from Prism Advertising.
Looking ahead, the council plans to host two major events: the West Asia Business Conference in April 2026 and the Family Business Conference in May 2026, both expected to enhance international partnerships, thought leadership, and corporate engagement across the region.
