Abdullah Bin Taq: Wise Leadership Focused on Developing Advanced Food Security Infrastructure

Abdullah bin Touq Al Mari, the Minister of Economy and Tourism, recently visited the Grand Mills, a prominent national company in the food industry. The purpose of his visit was to gain insight into the production and distribution of local flour, monitor the country’s strategic stock levels, and strengthen the partnership between the public and private sectors. He was welcomed by the company’s senior officials.

He emphasized that the United Arab Emirates, under the guidance of its wise leadership, has focused on establishing an advanced food security infrastructure based on global best practices. This commitment has aided in the development of the food industry and improved the production efficiency of food factories and companies, aligning with the nation’s vision to enhance the competitiveness and leadership of the food security system both regionally and globally.

According to the Minister, the flour industry in the UAE is witnessing significant growth. Local mills, such as Grand Mills, effectively meet local market demands, while also increasing the presence of Emirati food products in international markets. This showcases the competitiveness of this vital sector and its ability to support the country’s food security framework and enhance the sustainability of food supply chains. He added that the state has adopted a proactive approach to managing strategic stockpiles and supply chains to ensure a consistent and efficient flow of goods and food products in the markets. In this context, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, in collaboration with local economic departments and relevant authorities, closely monitors stock levels at suppliers and retail outlets daily, conducting precise analyses of the adequacy for each product, along with regular assessments of the strategic stock levels of essential goods and supply-demand operations.
