Dubai Chambers and the Chinese Council for the Promotion of Trade – Shanghai Explore Strengthening Economic Ties

Dubai Chambers recently convened a meeting with the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade to discuss the enhancement of economic relations and the strengthening of investment and trade collaboration between the business communities of Dubai and China.

In attendance were H.E. Mohammed Ali Rashed Lootah, Director General of Dubai Chambers, and Yang Dongjixing, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Council. The discussions focused on ways to bolster the bilateral partnership and highlighted key sectors that present promising opportunities for companies in both Dubai and China, particularly within the digital economy.

H.E. Mohammed Ali Rashed Lootah stated, “We are keen to expand commercial and investment connections between Dubai and China, building on the strong economic partnership between the two sides. This will aid in broadening the scope for collaborative work and creating new avenues for mutual growth. We are committed to further developing cooperative pathways between the business communities of Dubai and China, facilitating inter-investments, and exploring promising opportunities in priority sectors such as the digital economy.”

Chinese companies ranked seventh among the new foreign entities that joined the Dubai Chamber of Commerce in 2025, with 1,583 new Chinese companies becoming members last year, reflecting a 7% annual growth.

As a key driver of economic development in Dubai, the Dubai Chambers is dedicated to empowering businesses and fostering their growth within the emirate. It aids companies in successfully expanding into international markets and plays a central role in supporting the growth of the emirate’s digital economy, safeguarding the interests of the business community, and promoting Dubai as a leading global business hub.
