Abu Dhabi Ports Group has reinforced its role as a key enabler for trade and logistics in the region by leveraging its integrated network of ports, land, sea, and air transport to ensure a consistent flow of goods and enhance supply chain resilience in the Gulf region amidst recent regional challenges.
Since the onset of geopolitical developments in late February, the group has successfully maintained uninterrupted operations by redirecting shipping routes to alternative corridors, which include land, sea, air, and rail pathways, effectively mitigating the impacts of disruptions in certain maritime routes, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.
During this period, the group handled over 54,000 standard containers through the ports of Fujairah and Khorfakkan, along with the transportation of 22,000 containers via its land network and 18,000 containers through its maritime services supported by a fleet of 24 vessels providing eight regional services. Additionally, over 8,000 tons of cargo were transported via air services through more than 100 chartered cargo flights.

We will continue to operate under the directives of the nation’s leadership, ensuring the flow of goods across local and regional markets, especially essential items like food, medicine, strategic reserves, and materials necessary for key sectors. We reaffirm our steadfast commitment to serve our partners and clients while constantly striving to ensure the safety of our crews and enhance the resilience of local and regional supply chains.”
He further noted that the group, in coordination with its partners, is enhancing supply chain resilience and expanding multimodal transport capabilities, while remaining dedicated to securing the needs of clients and ensuring the safety of operational processes under various conditions.
Efforts to restructure operations include the launch of new regional shipping services connecting ports in India, Pakistan, Oman, and along the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf, along with the redirection of maritime lines through Fujairah and Khorfakkan as alternative gateways for regional trade.
The group also initiated an air bridge for transporting vital goods using chartered aircraft, strengthening land transport with over 800 trucks daily, linking the eastern ports of the UAE to Khalifa Port and Jebel Ali, in addition to supporting operations with Union Railway services.
Moreover, the group has expanded its storage capabilities to over 76,000 square meters, with plans to reach 188,000 square meters to accommodate essential commodity flows during supply chain pressure periods.
Abu Dhabi Ports utilized its advanced digital platforms for cargo management and real-time operational data analysis, which has helped improve the efficiency of trade flow management, enhance the use of empty containers in export operations, and reduce operational time and costs.
The group assures that it will continue to collaborate with relevant entities in the UAE and with sector partners to ensure service continuity, enhance supply chain readiness, and reinforce the country’s position as a globally competitive logistics hub characterized by agility and rapid responsiveness.
