UAE Unveils Coastal Development in Downtown Umm Al Quwain for 150,000 Residents

A significant new coastal project, named “Downtown Umm Al Quwain,” was inaugurated on Friday. Officials launched this ambitious initiative, encompassing a masterplan of 25 million square feet aimed at transforming the urban and economic landscape of the emirate.

This development features an uninterrupted coastline of 11 kilometers, which includes 7 kilometers of natural beaches and parks. Designed as a mixed-use hub, the project is divided into three main sections: North Beach, Trade Centre, and South Beach. Each area will host residential neighborhoods, commercial outlets, office spaces, hospitality establishments, and leisure facilities.

A key element of the project is the Trade Centre, a free zone covering 15 million square feet that will operate under a unique legal framework. The Umm Al Quwain government envisions it as a premier global hub for business, cultural exchange, and investment prospects.

The announcement took place at an official ceremony headed by Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, the Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain and Chairman of the Executive Council. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of large investment projects in boosting the emirate’s economy and attracting new business opportunities.

The “Downtown Umm Al Quwain” initiative is being developed in collaboration with Sobha Realty, with the initial phase focused on residential units, offices, and hospitality services. Once completed, the project is expected to accommodate over 150,000 residents.

PNC Menon, the Founder of Sobha Group, stated, “Downtown UAQ is not just a project; it is a vision realized. Guided by our philosophy of the Art of the Detail, we are pleased to partner with the Government of Umm Al Quwain to develop a destination that reflects innovation, sustainability, and serene luxury.”

Approximately half of the total land area allocated for the project will be reserved for green spaces, pathways, and parks, with infrastructure specifically designed to promote environmental sustainability.

The Government of Umm Al Quwain considers this project a significant advancement in establishing the region as a competitive and attractive destination for investors, residents, and tourists.
