Bangladesh is scheduled to compete in two men’s T20 International matches against the UAE at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on May 17 and 19. This will be the second T20I series between the two nations in the last three years.
Their last encounter occurred in September 2022 during a two-match T20I series at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Bangladesh clinched victory in both matches, utilizing the series as part of their preparation for the T20 World Cup in Australia later that year.
“The Bangladesh national team’s return to the UAE is something we are thrilled about. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) values this chance to engage in competitive matches and appreciates the Emirates Cricket Board’s enthusiasm in organizing this T20I series.
“These games will play a crucial role in our preparations for a busy international schedule, including the upcoming Asia Cup. We are optimistic that these two matches will enhance the cricketing relations between BCB and ECB while providing great entertainment for cricket fans,” stated Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, CEO of Bangladesh Cricket Board, in a recent announcement.
Both Bangladesh and the UAE are set to participate in the Men’s T20 Asia Cup in 2025, which is planned for September. The tournament will also include teams from Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, and Oman.
“We are eager to welcome the Bangladesh Men’s team for another bilateral T20I series against the UAE. The Emirates Cricket Board is committed to creating opportunities for the UAE national team to face high-quality rivals.
“In the past three years, we have hosted ICC Full Members such as New Zealand, West Indies, and Afghanistan, and this T20I series with Bangladesh marks their second bilateral visit to the UAE within the last three years.
“This series will provide an ideal opportunity for the UAE to prepare for this year’s ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup, and we thank the Bangladesh Cricket Board for their support towards UAE Cricket. Sharjah Cricket Stadium is a superb venue for T20 matches, and we anticipate two thrilling games,” added Subhan Ahmad, Chief Operating Officer of Emirates Cricket Board.
