Collaboration Between Fujairah Ports and the Free Zone to Strengthen the Emirate’s Role in the Global Maritime Sector

Fujairah Ports Signs MoU to Enhance Maritime Sector

Fujairah Ports, part of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Fujairah Free Zone Authority. This agreement aims to explore collaborative efforts to strengthen Fujairah’s position as a leading global hub in the maritime sector. By leveraging the capabilities of both Fujairah Ports and the Free Zone Authority, the two parties will intensify their efforts to attract additional investments, streamline processes, and promote sustainable growth within Fujairah’s maritime business ecosystem. To achieve these objectives, a comprehensive framework for joint operations has been established, focusing on key areas such as the exchange of statistical data, business forecasts, and other relevant information related to container movements by land and sea, as well as joint participation in events and promotional tours.

Strategic Gateway

Captain Mohammed Al Yahyai, CEO of Fujairah Ports, stated, “Fujairah Ports boasts a strategically significant location that qualifies it to serve as the main gateway to the Indian subcontinent and global African trade markets. This memorandum paves the way for enhanced collaboration with the Free Zone Authority in Fujairah, enabling us to seize new growth opportunities, strengthen our service offerings, and deliver greater value to our clients and stakeholders, thereby reinforcing Fujairah’s status as a premier maritime center.”

Mohammed Al Awadi, General Manager of the Fujairah Free Zone Authority, remarked, “The MoU with Fujairah Ports will contribute to our united efforts, allowing us to provide added value to firms operating in the maritime sector. Together, we look forward to creating a more competitive and attractive environment that enriches economic diversity and enhances Fujairah’s position in the global maritime sector.”

The MoU is anticipated to lay down the groundwork for both parties to collaborate in establishing a seamless and effective business environment that meets the needs of global shipping lines, logistics providers, and maritime service companies. Fujairah Ports serves as a strategic maritime hub on the eastern coast of the UAE, representing a key transit point for trade with the Indian subcontinent and other global markets. Established in 2017, Fujairah Ports encompasses a multipurpose area dedicated to cargo handling.
