UAE: Advanced Facilities Revitalize Summer Tourism

The summer tourism landscape in the UAE has undergone a significant transformation over the past two decades, evolving from a relatively quiet season to a vibrant period filled with major promotional campaigns, discount events, and large-scale indoor entertainment activities, all supported by world-class infrastructure.

The UAE has successfully developed massive shopping centers, including some of the largest in the world like the Dubai Mall, as well as museums and fully enclosed entertainment facilities such as Ski Dubai, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, Ferrari World, and Yas Island’s SeaWorld.

Experts and officials in the local tourism sector predict that the current summer season will see an uptick in tourist activity owing to the country’s impressive array of indoor entertainment options and state-of-the-art infrastructure, alongside various events announced across the Emirates and tailored hotel packages for specific demographics.

During the summer, the UAE aims to attract family tourism and event tourism through a series of festivals and events taking place across the nation.

Between June 27 and August 31, Dubai Summer Surprises will offer an exciting array of shopping experiences, draws, prizes, entertainment events, and cultural activities for residents and visitors of all ages and nationalities.

Sharjah Summer Promotions are also focused on enticing visitors and residents to participate in activities that will boost commercial and tourism momentum in the emirate while offering consumers a unique shopping experience.

Aisha Abdel Rab Al-Afeefi, the Director of Tourism Development at the Ministry of Economy, has anticipated a busy tourism season this year, buoyed by the diverse range of events and a 2% increase in hotel numbers in the first quarter of 2025, as well as a rise in the number of hotel rooms and overnight stays, indicating the sector’s readiness for an active summer.

Mohammad Al Rais, head of the Travel Agents and Tourism Committee in Dubai and CEO of Al Rais Travel Group, confirmed that the UAE is experiencing a significant tourism boom this summer, driven by increased visitor numbers from both domestic and international markets due to attractive promotional offers, advanced entertainment infrastructure, and a variety of events taking place throughout the Emirates.

He noted that the UAE has become a preferred destination for summer vacations due to the various indoor recreational attractions allowing visitors to enjoy numerous days without feeling the heat challenge.

Furthermore, the UAE now hosts a wide range of indoor entertainment venues such as Warner Bros. World in Abu Dhabi, Ski Dubai, and IMG Worlds of Adventure, in addition to large shopping centers, emphasizing that this synergy offers the country a unique competitive advantage in the region.

He highlighted that the summer campaigns launched by tourism departments across various Emirates have played a crucial role in boosting both domestic and international tourism, thanks to the diverse events, festivals, and exclusive offers aimed at families and visitors from all walks of life.

Hossni Abd Elhadi, CEO of Carlton Hotels UAE, mentioned that the UAE has successfully overcome the challenges posed by the summer climate, thanks to its world-class infrastructure and an integrated tourism sector capable of attracting visitors throughout the year, including a noticeable rise in summer tourist numbers benefiting from various offers and events.

He added that the tourism sector in the country relies on exceptional infrastructure that features major shopping centers and fully enclosed entertainment areas spread across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other Emirates, providing numerous options suitable for families and all segments of society during the summer.

The summer tourism season in the UAE also benefits from the strength of the aviation sector, with major national airlines and other carriers connecting the country to hundreds of global destinations, facilitating the movement of tourists arriving from various parts of the world.

Additionally, significant discounts on hotel bookings and tourist activities, sometimes reaching as much as 30% to 40%, along with tailored offers for specific groups such as children and families, play a vital role in invigorating summer tourism.
