Emirates Airlines and Uber have entered into a memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing a strategic partnership. This collaboration seeks to enhance the travel experience, making it smoother and more rewarding for travelers. The partnership will focus on improving the mobility experience for Emirates customers and providing loyalty benefits to members of the Emirates Skywards program when they utilize the Uber app in select markets within the Emirates network.
The agreement was signed by Adnan Kazim, the Vice President and Chief Commercial Operations Officer of Emirates, and Annabel Diaz Calderon, the Vice President and Head of Mobility for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Uber.
Through this collaboration, Emirates and Uber plan to launch several initiatives designed to create a more seamless travel experience for passengers.
These initiatives will include the development of a comprehensive booking system that integrates Uber ride vouchers with flight bookings, offering greater flexibility for airport transfers and city transportation. The two companies will also explore the possibility of providing Uber rides to and from the airport for a select group of Emirates customers, supporting an all-encompassing transit experience from door to destination.
Adnan Kazim expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are pleased to collaborate with Uber in our commitment to delivering seamless travel experiences for our customers. We will closely work with Uber over the coming months to leverage our combined strengths in travel and technology. Our goal is to broaden the benefits and options available to our customers by providing more connected and comprehensive journeys across our flight network and offering new, exclusive advantages to Emirates Skywards members. We look forward to building a successful partnership that brings valuable benefits to our travelers.”
In a separate development, Emirates has launched an innovative video showcasing the diverse content available on its inflight entertainment system, ice, which boasts the largest entertainment library in the skies. This system serves over 54 million customers and invites travelers to discover what keeps the airline at the forefront of inflight entertainment globally.
The ice entertainment system features the latest films, TV series, podcasts, language courses, documentaries, animated programs, and even live coverage of news and sports at 40,000 feet.
With over 6,500 channels of high-quality, award-winning content, ice is the world’s largest inflight entertainment library, vastly surpassing its closest competitors. Emirates is the leading airline in licensing content worldwide.
As global distribution companies begin to release non-theatrical screening rights for films, Emirates quickly secures top titles, giving passengers access to a library featuring 2,700 films from Hollywood and popular international cinema at any time.
