The Sharjah Public Finance Award was held recently in collaboration with the Arab Organization for Administrative Development, a part of the Arab League, and supported by the Sharjah government. The event took place over two days in Istanbul, Turkey, under the banner of the “First Public Finance Forum,” focusing on “Managing Public Debt in a Changing World – Sustainable Strategies to Tackle Global Economic Challenges.”
The forum aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices in public finance among the participating countries, enhancing their capabilities to address contemporary financial challenges.
Notable attendees included Walid Ibrahim Al Sayigh, the Director General of the Sharjah Finance Department and a member of the award’s Board of Trustees, as well as Sheikh Rashid Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the Director of the Sharjah Finance Department and Secretary-General of the Sharjah Public Finance Award. Dr. Nasser Al Qahtani, the Director General of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development, along with various ministers and government officials, were also present.
In his opening remarks, Sheikh Rashid Bin Saqr Al Qasimi emphasized that the organization of the forum highlights the importance of fostering Arab cooperation in public finance, especially in light of the growing challenges facing the global economy. He noted that it serves as an ideal platform for sharing expertise, knowledge, and best practices among Arab nations while showcasing success stories in managing public debt and financial leadership.
