Al-Mashreq Boosts Smart Employee Management with Advanced Digital Solutions

The Mashreq Bank, a prominent financial institution in the Middle East and North Africa region, has successfully implemented the SAP Fieldglass system, making it the first bank in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) area to deploy all three core components of the system. These components include the management of temporary staff, procurement of services, and management of assignments under a vendor-funded managed services model.

Furthermore, Mashreq accomplished this implementation in just six months, marking one of the fastest global rollouts of the complete SAP Fieldglass suite.

This ambitious transformation underscores Mashreq’s ongoing commitment to leading digital solutions in the financial services sector. The integration of the SAP Fieldglass system has enhanced smart employee management and introduced AI-supported features, reaffirming Mashreq’s forward-thinking approach towards next-generation technologies. The project has garnered praise from stakeholders at SAP, especially as the sector raised questions about the feasibility of such rapid and comprehensive implementation, further solidifying the bank’s position as a thought leader in technological transformation in the region.

This achievement is a result of effective collaboration between Mashreq Bank, SAP, execution partner Apsolut, and global HR management services provider Workspend, paving the way for a new era in the smart management of external workforce in the GCC and beyond.

Norman Tambach, the Chief Financial Officer of Mashreq Group, stated that the project transcended the mere implementation of a modern technological system, aiming instead to initiate a significant change in the management of external talent and services across all bank sectors. He expressed pride in Mashreq being the first bank in the region to adopt all three units of the Fieldglass system under a vendor-funded managed services model, highlighting the swift achievement as evidence of precise collaboration among teams. Tambach added, “We now possess a centralized, intelligent, and completely transparent method for managing external employees, aligning with our long-term developmental strategies.”

Additionally, Mohammed Abdulrazak, Chief Technology and Transformation Officer of Mashreq Group, mentioned that the bank has successfully integrated sustainability, flexibility, and intelligence into a crucial aspect of its operations. He noted that the SAP Fieldglass system would provide “real-time visibility, streamline processes and workflows, and offer advanced analytics, facilitating smarter decisions and faster execution,” emphasizing that what has been accomplished sets the standard for future-ready operations.

Marwan Zein Eddine, managing director of SAP in the UAE, affirmed that Mashreq Bank has established a new regional and global standard for digital employee management, describing the adoption of all three Fieldglass units within such a brief time as “an impressive achievement.” He remarked, “Together with our execution partner Apsolut and Workspend, we have created a future-oriented operational model for managing external talent on a large scale.”

This system provides Mashreq Bank with a reliable single source of information on its external employees and services, enabling smarter procurement, enhanced compliance, and better alignment with regulatory standards. The Fieldglass platform smoothly integrates with Mashreq’s systems, allowing for improved oversight throughout the lifecycle of urgent tasks.
