Barclays Bank has announced the appointment of Khaled Al-Dabbagh and Walid Mizher as co-CEOs for the Middle East region. Both executives will operate from Dubai and report directly to Stephen Denton, the head of Barclays PLC and the investment banking division.
Khaled Al-Dabbagh brings nearly 25 years of experience in investment banking, with a career spanning Dubai and New York. He currently serves as the CEO and head of investment banking for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Al-Dabbagh joined Barclays in 2014, playing a crucial role in steering the bank’s investment banking strategy within the region.
Walid Mizher has held the position of head of markets for MENA since 2017, overseeing sales activities and the execution of financial transactions across the Middle East and Africa. With almost 19 years at Barclays, he has advanced through various leadership roles across institutional sales, structured finance solutions, equity management, risk management, and debt markets.
It’s noteworthy that Al-Dabbagh and Mizher have collaborated for over a decade, successfully establishing strong relationships with key clients and partners throughout the region.
Stephen Denton expressed that as the Middle East’s influence on global capital markets grows, along with the influx of wealth into the region, it becomes strategically vital for the bank’s growth and three-year plan. By combining the leadership of these two prominent figures in investment banking and global markets, Barclays aims to enhance efficiency and collaboration, establishing a unified model that serves both local and international clients.
Barclays has been present in the Middle East and North Africa for over 150 years, providing a comprehensive range of premier products and services to a diverse client base that includes institutions, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals, through its investment banking and private wealth management divisions.
