The Dubai Maritime Authority, part of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, has emphasized the importance of compliance among all stakeholders, including manufacturers, owners, operators, and importers of marine vessels, to include and prominently display the Hull Identification Number (HIN) when processing registration, licensing, and renewal transactions for marine vessels in Dubai.
This reminder aligns with the authority’s efforts to standardize procedures and reinforce adherence to the established technical and regulatory standards, reflecting the strategic vision of the emirate to establish a safer and more efficient maritime environment. It also corresponds with Administrative Decision No. (2) of 2024 regarding the technical inspection of marine vessels in Dubai, which constitutes the regulatory framework for validating inspection results and issuing related certificates.
The authority reiterated that the Hull Identification Number serves as an internationally recognized benchmark to enhance the reliability of technical data regarding marine vessels, as well as to track their operational and manufacturing identities. Furthermore, the Dubai Maritime Authority urges all relevant parties to fully cooperate with the regulatory directives issued in this regard, as they play a crucial role in improving maritime operations and ensuring the safety of individuals and property within the emirate’s territorial waters.
