Yesterday, Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) entered into an agreement with Brembo, a global leader in innovative braking systems, to enhance its supply of solar-powered “Celestial” aluminium. This type of aluminium significantly reduces emissions associated with the smelting process, thanks to its production using solar energy in the UAE.
This new agreement extends the partnership that has been in place since 2019, under which EGA will increase the volume of Celestial aluminium supplied to Brembo for the fabrication of advanced braking systems.
Aluminium plays a crucial role in the automotive industry due to its lightweight properties, durability, and resistance to corrosion. Emirates Global Aluminium is one of the world’s leading suppliers of metal alloys to the automotive sector, serving major companies including BMW, as well as key suppliers for Mercedes-Benz and Nissan.
Brembo is renowned for its design, development, and production of high-performance braking technologies. Established in 1961 in Bergamo, Italy, the company now supplies advanced braking systems to top automotive manufacturers worldwide, catering to both high-performance road vehicles and racing cars, as well as motorcycles.
Abdel Nasser bin Kalban, CEO of Emirates Global Aluminium, stated, “We at EGA are committed to innovation and development to produce high-quality, low-emission metals that meet our customers’ needs. We look forward to strengthening our successful partnership with Brembo in the years to come and thank them for their trust in us and our products.”
Beatrice Sarti, Chief Procurement Officer at Brembo, commented, “Brembo has achieved a new milestone in procurement with this agreement, allowing us to reduce emissions by nearly 50% for the same quantity of aluminium, which reinforces our commitment to environmental sustainability.”
