Etihad Airways has reported a historic milestone by transporting over 20 million passengers within a year for the first time in its history, with its fleet exceeding 100 aircraft. The company’s CEO, Antonio Neves, stated:
“Etihad Airways has experienced significant success by breaking records and achieving remarkable milestones. After generating a profit of 685 million dirhams in the first quarter of this year and attaining the highest levels of customer satisfaction, the number of guests flying with Etihad has surpassed 20 million in 12 months.”
He further noted: “We are continuing our upward trajectory as part of a broader growth strategy that has seen our annual passenger numbers double from 10 million to 20 million in just two and a half years. This sustained growth is driven by increasing demand, a dynamic global network, and a clear strategic focus.” To mark this achievement, Etihad added three new aircraft to its expanding fleet, bringing the operational fleet to over 100.
The airline also celebrated the return of its seventh Airbus A380 to service and welcomed a new Boeing 787-9B, which arrived from Charleston in the U.S. with an entirely Emirati flight crew. Additionally, Etihad took delivery of the first of three new Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, which were delivered yesterday.
The company is expected to receive 18 more new aircraft in 2025, including its new A321LR fleet, which will enter service starting August 1. Earlier this year, Etihad announced an order for 28 wide-body aircraft from Boeing.
