6% Growth in Visitors to Ras Al Khaimah during the First Half

The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority has announced impressive results for the first half of the year, showcasing a 6% increase in visitor numbers and a 9% boost in tourism revenue. Notably, revenue from meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions, and weddings surged by 36%.

Raki Phillips, CEO of the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, stated, “Our achievements in the first half of the year underscore the strength of the tourism sector in Ras Al Khaimah and the effectiveness of our strategic vision. Every step we take, from expanding the emirate’s air connectivity to developing luxury hotel projects, forming strategic partnerships, and organizing diverse events and experiences, solidifies Ras Al Khaimah’s position as one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations globally.”

He further added, “The emirate continues to move steadily toward creating long-term sustainable value for its economy, community, and visitors, all fueled by our ambitious vision to attract over 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030.”

During the first half of the year, the emirate welcomed over 654,000 visitors, marking the highest number recorded in a six-month period. Exceptional performance was noted in key markets such as the Commonwealth of Independent States, the United Kingdom, India, China, and Central and Eastern Europe.

Phillips highlighted that the emirate experienced remarkable growth in visitor numbers from markets benefiting from enhanced direct air connections with Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, including Romania (+65%), Poland (+56%), Uzbekistan (+47%), and Belarus (+30%). This growth aligns with the announcement of significant hotel projects by renowned global brands such as Four Seasons, Fairmont, Taj, and NH Collection, as part of a plan to double the number of hotel rooms by 2030.

He noted, “Primary markets have shown noteworthy performance, with a 25% annual increase in visitors from India and a 5% rise from the U.K. Additionally, there was a 9.2% increase in arrivals from China and over 7% from Russia. Ras Al Khaimah recorded the highest number of visitors ever within a six-month timeframe, including substantial increases from Romania (over 65%), Poland (over 56%), Uzbekistan (over 47%), and Belarus (over 30%), attributed to the expansion of direct air connectivity at Ras Al Khaimah Airport.”

Hospitality Sector

Phillips added that the first half of the year saw the announcement of several new luxury hotels, including NH Collection Ras Al Khaimah Marjan Island (156 rooms), Fairmont Marjan Island (250 rooms), Taj Wellington Mews Marjan (336 serviced apartments), and Four Seasons Resort and Residences Ras Al Khaimah at Mina Al Arab (150 rooms).

The emirate also welcomed the opening of the Rove Marjan Island hotel, supporting Ras Al Khaimah’s goal of doubling hotel room numbers by 2030.

He pointed out that the first half was marked by the signing of important partnerships aimed at promoting the tourist destination and expanding its global presence. These collaborations included a partnership with the Fujairah Adventure Center to highlight the tourist assets of both locations, as well as a joint adventure tourism program for thrill-seekers. Additionally, memorandums of understanding were signed with major online travel agencies in China, such as Trip.com and Tongcheng, alongside four Saudi platforms: Fursan Travel, Smart Holidays, Al Matar, and Wego.

On the digital innovation front, the emirate signed an agreement with Huawei to enhance its smart tourism capabilities and another with Open World Technologies on Web3 to launch a blockchain-based rewards platform to increase visitor engagement.

Ras Al Khaimah continued to enrich its agenda with prominent sporting events during the first half of the year, recognizing the vital role of major events in enhancing the appeal of the destination and improving the quality of life.
