The Department of Economic Development in Ras Al Khaimah has successfully concluded its awareness initiative “The Happy Shopper,” launched during the current summer season in collaboration with strategic partners, including the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters (Community Protection and Prevention Department), the Ras Al Khaimah Youth Center, and the Ras Al Khaimah Cultural Center. This effort is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at fostering a culture of conscious consumption among community members.
The initiative, which focused on shoppers in various markets and major stores across the emirate, witnessed the active participation of 140 shoppers from different nationalities. These individuals demonstrated a commitment to adopting responsible purchasing behaviors that reflect a deep understanding of consumer rights and responsibilities.
Faisal Al-Youn, the Director of the Control and Commercial Protection Department at the Economic Department, stated, “The initiative observed shoppers’ buying behaviors and assessed their adherence to responsible consumption practices, such as comparing displayed prices, verifying the accuracy of receipts, keeping warranty brochures, and understanding tax details and total costs before completing purchases.”
He also mentioned that during the final round of the event, the commercial protection team distributed symbolic gifts to consumers.
