A resident of Al Ain, 55-year-old Emirati citizen Mansour Al Hashimi, has won a million dollars in the “Millennium Millionaire” draw organized by Dubai Duty Free. He purchased ticket number 0548 on July 27 while traveling to Bahrain.
Dubai Duty Free announced the latest winners of the Millennium Millionaire and Major Surprise Draws during an event at Concourse C of Dubai International Airport. Another winner, 18-year-old Indian student Wayne Nash De Souza, who lives in Dubai, also won a million dollars with ticket number 4463, which he bought on July 26 during a trip with his family to Los Angeles. Additionally, a resident of Ethiopia won a luxury motorcycle in the draws.
Al Hashimi is the 17th Emirati to win the title of millionaire in this draw series. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you to Dubai Duty Free. I am very happy about this wonderful win.”
De Souza, who recently relocated to the United States to pursue a master’s degree in aerospace engineering at the University of Illinois, shared his excitement by stating, “Thank you very much to Dubai Duty Free; I will invest this money wisely.” He plans to use the prize to support his education and that of his sister, with plans for part of the funds to go towards investing or purchasing property in Dubai. De Souza is the 255th Indian winner of a million dollars in the Millennium Millionaire draws since their inception in 1999, highlighting the strong participation from the Indian community.
Following the millionaire draw, major surprise draws were held for a luxury motorcycle, with Ethiopian resident Samson Asifa, aged 60, winning an Aprilia Tuono V4. He purchased ticket number 0090 on July 13. Asifa becomes the first Ethiopian to win a motorcycle in the major surprise draws, which have been held since 2002.
