Jingdong Launches a New Warehouse in Jafza

JD.com, a company specializing in technology and supply chain services, has announced the launch of its new warehouse in Dubai. This marks the company’s first investment in physical assets within the United Arab Emirates, executed through JD Properties, which focuses on investment and infrastructure management.

The new facility, covering over 10,000 square meters in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), will be managed by JD Logistics. With this addition, JD Logistics now operates six warehouses within the UAE.

This latest warehouse utilizes a digital operational model, incorporating a real-time inventory management system that enhances operational efficiency and allows for precise tracking of processes.

The facility provides storage for approximately one million products on behalf of a leading electronics manufacturer, consistently achieving an on-time delivery rate exceeding 99.9%.

JD Logistics’ Air Supply Chain service offers tailored solutions that improve space utilization and inventory management, allowing clients to handle fluctuations, seasonal changes, and other complexities more effectively.

The opening of the warehouse is a significant milestone in JD’s strategy to expand its logistics operations across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, facilitating trade movement between markets and supporting operational integration.

Additionally, JD Properties is working to enhance its presence in the region with plans to develop a smart logistics center spanning 70,000 square meters in Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Airports Free Zone.

Feng Guo, General Manager of JD in the Middle East, emphasized that this investment is a strategic part of the company’s long-term growth and expansion plans in the Middle East, strengthening its operational footprint to scale its business and regional trade.

He stated, “We are not only investing in physical infrastructure but also in the long-term digital transformation of the logistics sector in the region, which will enhance cross-border trade and supply chain development.”

Charlie Bing, Head of the Middle East at JD Logistics, highlighted that the company is known for its fast and technology-driven solutions, with a strong track record in building intelligent logistics systems in sectors such as e-commerce, electronics, fast-moving consumer goods, apparel, and automotive.

He added, “Dubai’s strategic location at the crossroads of Asia, Africa, and Europe, combined with JAFZA’s tax-free status, makes our warehouses an ideal choice for multinational companies looking to expand or improve their presence in the Middle East and beyond.”
