ADNOC Group has achieved its first international renewable energy certificate (I-REC) from Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority, under the accreditation of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy and following the standards set by the International Tracking Standards Foundation (I-TRACK). This milestone highlights the group’s commitment to sustainability, confirming that the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Center has been entirely powered by clean energy for its operational needs since November 2024.
During this time, the center hosted 166 events, including exhibitions, conferences, and meetings, all conducted using 100% renewable energy sources. The international renewable energy certificate obtained by ADNOC Group demonstrates that the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Center consumed over 13,700 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity generated entirely from clean energy sources, resulting in a significant reduction of carbon emissions associated with energy generation to zero.
This significant achievement was made possible through collaboration with Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority throughout 2024, making the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Center the first and largest event venue in the Middle East and North Africa to operate entirely on clean energy.
Hamid Matar Al Dhaheri, the managing director and CEO of ADNOC Group, stated, “This achievement reflects ADNOC Group’s steadfast commitment to sustainability and our dedication to adopting innovative and clean solutions in the events sector. We take pride in our role in supporting the UAE’s vision for a more sustainable future and are steadfastly working towards the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2045.”
