The United Arab Emirates and Hungary continue to enhance their trade and investment relations, which have seen significant developments over the past few years. Both countries are actively exploring new partnership opportunities between their business communities and private sectors.
As part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the friendly nations, His Excellency Dr. Thani Al-Zeyoudi, the Minister of Foreign Trade, made an official visit to Budapest, Hungary’s capital. During this visit, he engaged in productive discussions with ministers, senior officials, business leaders, and representatives from the private sector to exchange perspectives on ways to elevate bilateral trade and investment relations.
Throughout the visit, Al-Zeyoudi held bilateral meetings with Peter Szijjártó, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, as well as Gergely Karácsony, the Mayor of Budapest. He emphasized that both the UAE and Hungary share a common vision for sustainable development, which is focused on empowering the private sector and creating promising collaboration opportunities to enhance bilateral relations in priority sectors.
Furthermore, Al-Zeyoudi noted that this shared vision has positively impacted the growth of commercial and investment ties, which have experienced notable growth in recent years. Non-oil trade reached $793.7 million in 2024, and exceeded $434.2 million in the first half of 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of 29.4%. During his visit, Al-Zeyoudi also attended a reception at the UAE Embassy in Budapest, hosted by Ambassador Saud Al-Shamsi, where several Hungarian business leaders were present.
