10,000 Breaks for Delivery Workers in the UAE During the “Midday Work Ban

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced the establishment of over 10,000 air-conditioned rest areas equipped with amenities for delivery workers across the nation. This initiative is set to take effect during the “Noon Work Ban” period, which runs from June 15 to September 15. The effort is supported by various government entities and private sector organizations.

### Acknowledgments for Collaboration

The ministry expressed gratitude to all parties involved in this humanitarian initiative, including the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport, economic departments in various emirates, and the Emirates General Petroleum Corporation. Contributions also came from numerous restaurants, shopping centers, and grocery stores, alongside cloud kitchens.

### Significance of the Initiative

The ministry highlighted the importance of this initiative, especially as the delivery sector plays a vital role in logistics. Workers in this field do not have a fixed location during the “Noon Work Ban,” which is particularly crucial due to the nature of certain goods that require fast and precise delivery. Delivery personnel can easily locate the nearest rest area using interactive maps available in various applications.

### Expansion of Previous Efforts

This initiative builds on last year’s success, which saw the launch of 6,000 air-conditioned rest stations for delivery workers. This year, the program has significantly expanded, underscoring the effectiveness of such initiatives in safeguarding workers from the risks of heat stress during the hot summer months, particularly during the ban from 12:30 PM to 3 PM.

### Employer Responsibilities

Under the “Noon Work Ban,” employers are obliged to provide suitable shaded areas for workers to rest. This includes ensuring access to cooling facilities, adequate cold drinking water relative to the number of employees, approved hydration tools by local authorities, and first aid kits at work sites.

### Reporting Violations

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation encourages community members to report any violations related to the “Noon Work Ban” through the call center at 600590000 or via the ministry’s mobile app and website.
