Emirates Global Aluminium Acquires 80% Stake in Italian Eco Green

The Global Aluminum Company of the UAE has announced its intention to acquire an 80% stake in the Italian aluminum recycling firm, Eco Green.

This acquisition represents the latest move in the company’s strategic plan to expand its global footprint and accelerate its recycling operations in Europe, directly enhancing its capabilities in the European aluminum scrap market for the first time. The transaction is subject to necessary regulatory approvals.

Upon completion of the acquisition of Eco Green, the production capacity for recycled aluminum at Global Aluminum Company will exceed 400,000 tons annually across the UAE, Europe, and the United States, in addition to over 200,000 tons per year from ongoing projects in the US and Europe.

The company markets recycled aluminum globally under the brand name “Revival”.

The CEO of Emirates Global Aluminum, Abdalla Nasir bin Kalban, stated, “We are making rapid progress in establishing a comprehensive global business model for aluminum recycling, while simultaneously boosting our production of primary aluminum.”

Eco Green brings extensive expertise, which will support our expansion in the aluminum scrap market in the region and enhances our role as a key player in building a low-carbon future in Europe.

This acquisition also enables us to produce recycled aluminum in northeastern Italy, opening new avenues for business growth.”

Luke Scapini, CEO of Eco Green, remarked, “Joining forces with the world’s largest producer of high-quality aluminum marks a turning point for Eco Green, helping us strengthen our industrial operations and expand our aluminum scrap supply chains, solidifying our presence in European markets.”

Emirates Global Aluminum is a leader in the primary aluminum market in Europe, and we look forward to enhancing and expanding our recycling operations across the continent.

Eco Green specializes in aluminum scrap sorting and melting, as well as processing slag, a type of waste generated during smelting. The company distributes around 70,000 tons annually.

Eco Green operates a facility in Villafranca di Verona in northeast Italy, handling the collection, sorting, and distribution of approximately 23,000 tons of aluminum scrap each year.

Some of the sorted scrap is supplied to a nearby facility owned by Eco Green in Nogara di Verona, which produces over 20,000 tons of secondary scrap annually.

Eco Green is executing a plan for expansion in Nogara di Verona, which aims to increase its production by an additional 15,000 tons per year of secondary aluminum, expected to be completed by the early second half of 2026.

Eco Green provides services to more than 60 clients across Europe, primarily in the manufacturing and processing sectors of aluminum, serving industries such as automotive, aerospace, construction, and others.

Eco Green has established a robust supply network with over 350 suppliers, ensuring regular availability of high-quality aluminum scrap.

Emirates Global Aluminum boasts the largest aluminum recycling plant in the UAE, located in the Al Taweelah region of Abu Dhabi.

The company has also acquired aluminum recycling assets in Germany and the United States in 2024 and is currently engaged in expansion projects in both regions.

According to analyses, global demand for recycled aluminum is projected to double by 2040. Recycled aluminum is expected to contribute to a 60% increase in global aluminum supply by 2030, and around 70% growth between 2030 and 2040.
