The United Arab Emirates is strengthening its position in the field of global humanitarian aid by announcing the construction of a modern hospital and a specialized dialysis center in the capital of Chad, N’Djamena. The move was made at the behest of the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and with the direct support of the country’s Vice President, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The implementation of the project is entrusted to the UAE Aid Agency, which will work in close cooperation with the government of Chad, Sheikh Mohamed has report.
According to the agreement, the new hospital, which will be named after Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, will cover an area of 11,300 sq m, of which more than 9,500 sq m is allocated for the main medical buildings, and another 1,800 sq m is intended for staff accommodation. A separate dialysis center will be built, covering an area of 4,200 sq. m and equipped with advanced technology and modern medical equipment. The project is expected to become one of the largest medical facilities in Chad, significantly improving healthcare standards in the region.
UAE Humanitarian Strategy: Supporting Global Development
Sheikh Shahbut bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State and Chairman of the Health Advisory Committee for International Development, stressed that the new medical project is an important continuation of the humanitarian policy initiated by the founder of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. According to him, the establishment of the Sheikha Fatima Hospital and the modern dialysis center is in line with the vision of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to strengthen the global healthcare sector, with a special focus on African countries.
Sheikh Shahbut added that the UAE initiative aims to support less developed countries and is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular improving access to quality healthcare. The agreement, he said, demonstrates the UAE’s strong global stance in supporting vulnerable communities and regions that require international attention.
Tarek Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, stressed that this project is another confirmation of the UAE’s commitment to contributing to sustainable global development. He noted that the agency will continue to implement similar initiatives in countries that are in urgent need of developing health infrastructure. The UAE Aid Agency is implementing this project in line with the strategy of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council (IHPC), under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Theab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
A powerful boost to Chad’s development
Chad’s Minister of Finance, Tahir Hamid Nguilin, expressed his gratitude to the UAE leadership for supporting his country in creating an advanced medical infrastructure. He stressed that the new medical complex will not only significantly improve access to quality medical services for more than 1.7 million residents of N’Djamena, but will also give a significant boost to the city’s economic development by creating new jobs and supporting the development of related industries, such as transport, catering and services. The future hospital will have 11 specialized clinics, including:
- a pediatric department;
- a gynecological department;
- dental services;
- orthopedics;
- urology;
- ophthalmology;
- otolaryngology (ENT);
- dermatology services;
- therapeutic department;
- cardiology;
- general medicine.
It is also planned to equip three modern operating rooms and three delivery rooms. A separate dialysis center, which will have 80 beds, will provide treatment for more than 9% of the capital’s residents who need regular procedures. Thanks to such projects, the UAE continues to assert its status as a global humanitarian leader, significantly increasing its influence in strategically important regions, in particular in Africa. This not only strengthens the Emirates’ diplomatic ties, but also creates a solid foundation for further economic and social transformations in partner countries.
