Ras Al Khaimah Customs Launches First Land Transit Shipment Under TIR System to Poland

The Ras Al Khaimah Customs Authority has announced the commencement of its first overland transit shipment using the TIR (International Road Transport) system. This shipment is set to travel from the free trade zones within the emirate to Poland, passing through several European and Asian countries via international road networks.

This achievement marks a strategic milestone in Ras Al Khaimah Customs’ efforts to implement the TIR system, in collaboration with the Emirates Customs and the International Road Transport Union (IRU). This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of cross-border trade and supports the country’s goals to strengthen logistical and commercial integration with regional and global markets.

Dr. Rashid Al-Muhairi, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Customs, stated that this accomplishment reflects the authority’s commitment to supporting the vision of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, to facilitate international trade. He emphasized that implementing the TIR system is a key pillar in enhancing the UAE’s competitiveness on the global transit map, showcasing the country’s readiness in terms of infrastructure and logistics to support transit trade.

He further explained that Ras Al Khaimah Customs is working to broaden the application of this system in collaboration with both local and international partners, aiming to position the emirate as a reliable and efficient launch point connecting markets in the Middle East, Asia, and Europe, particularly through its free zones and other border crossings.

It is noteworthy that the TIR system is recognized as one of the most efficient and secure customs transit systems worldwide, allowing goods to move through multiple countries without the need for re-inspection at each border. This significantly reduces transit times, lowers costs, and promotes the flow of global trade.
