Emirates Global Aluminium Launches Production at the Spectro Alloys Plant Expansion in the USA

The global leader in high-quality aluminum production, Emirates Global Aluminium, has announced the commencement of operations at its expanded Spectro Alloys aluminum recycling facility located in Minnesota, USA.

This initiative aims to boost secondary aluminum production by 55,000 tons in its initial phase, with full production capacity expected to be reached by the first quarter of 2026. Once operational, the expanded facility will elevate the total output of Spectro Alloys to 165,000 tons annually of recycled aluminum, which will be marketed under the “Revival” brand associated with Emirates Global Aluminium’s recycled products.

Furthermore, this project will enhance Emirates Global Aluminium’s total recycled aluminum production to 195,000 tons per year across its factories in the United States and Germany.

The company is also progressing with the construction of the largest aluminum recycling facility in Al Taweelah, UAE, which will have an annual production capacity of 170,000 tons of aluminum billets. Operations are anticipated to begin in the first half of 2026.

Abdul Nasser Bin Kalban, CEO of Emirates Global Aluminium, stated: “The initiation of production at our Spectro Alloys expansion marks a significant milestone in our global aluminum recycling endeavors and our commitment to meet the rising demand for low-carbon metal. This achievement is a crucial step in our ambitious plan to strengthen our presence in the American market, one of our largest global arenas, as we continue our project to establish a primary aluminum production facility in Oklahoma.”

The United States ranks as the second largest market for recycled aluminum worldwide, and the demand for recycled aluminum in the U.S. is projected to reach 7.6 million tons annually by 2033, according to independent research and data firm CRU.

In Oklahoma, Emirates Global Aluminium is set to construct the first U.S. primary aluminum production facility since 1980.

The new facility is expected to achieve an output of 600,000 tons of primary aluminum per year, which is double the current domestic aluminum production in the country.

The American industry relies on imports for approximately 85% of its primary aluminum needs across various sectors, including automotive, aerospace, and construction.

Emirates Global Aluminium acquired an 80% stake in Spectro Alloys in 2024.
