The United Arab Emirates has surpassed the United States in the count of skyscrapers, as per the latest data released by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). The report indicates that the UAE ranks second globally, only behind China, with a total of 37 buildings reaching 300 meters or more in height located in Dubai. In contrast, the U.S. boasts 31 such structures. Notably, Dubai is home to the majority of these towering edifices, including iconic structures like the Burj Khalifa, with 22 of the UAE’s skyscrapers having won international accolades.
China occupies the top position by a significant margin, featuring 122 skyscrapers over 300 meters in height, primarily in Hong Kong. Furthermore, China has 3,497 buildings that exceed 150 meters and 1,271 buildings taller than 200 meters. Skyscrapers in cities such as Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou rank among the tallest in the world, including famous landmarks like the Shanghai Tower, which stands at 632 meters, and the Ping An Finance Centre at 599 meters.
The Burj Khalifa remains the tallest building in the world, towering at 828 meters, but other impressive skyscrapers contribute to Dubai’s renowned skyline. For instance, Marina 101 is the second tallest building in Dubai, measuring 425 meters, and is currently the fourth tallest residential building worldwide. Dubai’s construction boom continues, with plans for more towering structures already on the horizon.
