Dubai-based Ducab, a leading provider of integrated energy solutions and manufacturing, has commenced the delivery of advanced electrical cables for the New Hospital in the Kai Tak area, which marks one of the largest and most modern healthcare infrastructure projects in Hong Kong.
This announcement was made during Ducab’s participation in the Build4Asia 2025 exhibition, a premier event focusing on innovative technology for the security, construction, and electrical engineering sectors, taking place in Hong Kong from July 15 to 17, 2025. At the event, Ducab showcased its comprehensive cable solutions that prioritize safety, aimed at supporting the critical infrastructure of the hospital.
Charles Milaghi, CEO of Ducab’s cable business unit, stated, “We take pride in supporting the New Hospital project in Kai Tak. He further emphasized that securing the New Hospital project strengthens Ducab’s reputation as a reliable partner for major infrastructure initiatives throughout Asia, where rapid expansion and population growth drive unprecedented demand for healthcare, transportation, and urban development projects.
The New Hospital, which features 37 operating rooms, a dedicated neuroscience center, an oncology facility, and a community health center, will ultimately accommodate up to 2,400 beds and is crucial in Hong Kong’s strategy to combat the challenges of an aging and increasing population in the Kowloon area.
Comprehensive and Reliable Solutions
Ducab has been chosen to supply over 455 kilometers of specialized cables for this advanced healthcare facility, reflecting its ability to provide comprehensive and effective solutions that meet the precise needs of essential service infrastructure. This project aligns with Ducab’s extensive portfolio of safety-focused cable solutions, specifically designed for sophisticated healthcare environments.
The cable solutions provided by Ducab for this flagship project emphasize fire safety and high performance to ensure a secure and reliable environment within healthcare facilities. This includes LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) cables and XL-LSZH wires for buildings, ensuring minimal toxic emissions in the event of a fire, thus reducing risks to lives and property. Additionally, Ducab will supply approximately 300 kilometers of armored cables manufactured according to BS 6724 standards, enhancing mechanical and electrical protection in sensitive environments.
Moreover, Ducab will deliver around 40,000 kilometers of XL-LSZH wiring compliant with BS EN 50525-3-41 specifications, ensuring high quality and sustainable performance. For fire resistance systems, Ducab will provide about 150 kilometers of FLAM BICC 6 cables designed to protect critical circuits, alongside 15,000 kilometers of FLAM BICC 1 cables to maintain operation during fire emergencies.
These cables are specifically engineered to safeguard electrical circuits during fires, a crucial aspect in hospitals to ensure the continuous operation of biomedical equipment that can directly impact patient lives.
