The Investment Promotion Office of Yunnan Province in China organized an investment cooperation forum in Dubai, with participation from various local institutions, under the theme “Invest in Yunnan.”
The event attracted over 100 participants, including representatives from the Chinese Consulate General in Dubai, prominent Emirati business leaders, and delegations from cultural tourism, healthcare, premium agriculture, trade and procurement, energy, and investment funds sectors.
During the forum, presentations were made by the Yunnan Investment Promotion Office, the Yunnan Cultural Tourism and Healthcare Group, and the Investment Promotion Office of Honghe Prefecture. They showcased the latest developments in Yunnan regarding high-level opening-up and quality development, demonstrating the province’s interest in expanding investment cooperation with Emirati companies, particularly in outstanding mountain agriculture, cultural tourism and healthcare, green energy, and advanced manufacturing.
Representatives from both sides delivered significant insights, exchanging views on potential collaboration areas and discussing tangible opportunities to strengthen partnerships, notably:
• In the agriculture and halal products sector: Both parties explored the establishment of origins warehousing for premium agricultural products from Yunnan’s highlands, working towards aligning halal certification systems between the two countries, and creating cross-border supply chain platforms.
• In cultural tourism and healthcare: The focus was on fulfilling the needs of Middle Eastern tourists concerning cultural experiences and luxury holiday routes, while developing distinctive projects such as hot spring hotels and specially designed tourism itineraries to enhance Yunnan’s tourism brand presence in the region.
• In sovereign wealth funds: The feasibility of establishing joint industrial funds was discussed, showcasing several major industrial projects in Yunnan as promising investment areas.
This event served as an effective platform for deepening mutual understanding between both parties, engaging in thorough consultations, and building consensus on practical cooperation. Yunnan’s natural resources, industrial supply chains, policy incentives, and investment prospects garnered the interest of many Emirati businessmen, who expressed their intention to visit Yunnan soon to closely examine the investment environment.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to leverage this event as an opportunity to enhance trade and investment cooperation and develop a precise platform to connect businesses, identify competitively advantageous industrial resources, and align offerings with needs, ensuring a mutually beneficial partnership built on reciprocity and tangible outcomes.
