NRTC Food Holding, a company engaged in the distribution of fruits and vegetables across the Gulf Cooperation Council region, has announced its acquisition of Al Hashmi Farms, one of the largest private agricultural complexes in the area, located in the Wadi El Natrun region of Egypt.
Mohamed El Refai, the CEO of NRTC, remarked, “This acquisition represents a significant milestone in our efforts to ensure quality from the source and enhance the resilience of the food system.”
Al Hashmi Farms spans approximately 10,000 acres, with around 70% currently cultivated. The farm’s portfolio includes a diverse range of crops, such as citrus fruits, olives, mangoes, grapes, dates, wheat, and sugar beets.
The agricultural complex boasts over two million fruit trees, supported by modern central irrigation systems and advanced water management infrastructure powered by solar energy, with an annual production capacity of approximately 70,000 tons.
As part of its future plans, NRTC continues to explore additional agricultural investment opportunities across Africa, emphasizing scalable agricultural models that can adapt to climate changes, thereby ensuring a sustainable balance between commercial viability, food security, and social development.
