Dubai International Airport experienced a peak in travel yesterday, marking a summer high as families and students returned from their summer holidays in preparation for the upcoming academic year.
The number of travelers exceeded 290,000, with a significant increase in return flights from regional countries and tourist destinations globally. This high level of activity is expected to persist in the coming days.
According to data from the airport, the summer travel season is anticipated to remain robust until August 25, with daily passenger movement averaging around 280,000 during this period.
Next Friday and Saturday are expected to be even busier as final preparations are made for the new school year. The revival of tourism and the influx of visitors to Dubai have contributed to increased travel activity at the airport over the past few months.
The emirate welcomed 9.88 million tourists during the first half of the year, with ongoing expectations for continued tourism momentum. This is supported by various events, exhibitions, and promotional programs designed to attract visitors from traditional markets, while also opening up new markets for global travelers. Furthermore, national carriers are expanding their fleets and increasing their destinations from Dubai to various regions worldwide.
