DB World: Jebel Ali Port Maintains Full Operations Amid Geopolitical Tensions

DP World has announced that the Jebel Ali Port is operating at full capacity without any reported infrastructure damages, despite rising geopolitical tensions in the region. The company also noted a decline in incoming vessel traffic as the consequences of the conflict in Iran continue to unfold.

Based in Dubai, the company stated that the port can maintain its operations efficiently. However, the war that erupted nearly two weeks ago following airstrikes conducted by the United States and Israel on Iran has caused disturbances in the global energy and transportation sectors, in addition to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which is considered one of the most crucial routes for oil trade and maritime shipping in the world.

Yuvraj Narayan, CEO of DP World, stated in a release that the port’s infrastructure is capable of functioning at full capacity. He added that the company is implementing measures to redirect some operations in the region to mitigate operational impacts and ensure the continuity of supply chains.

This announcement comes at a time when logistical and security challenges for shipping firms and port operators remain high. The UK Maritime Trade Operations Authority reported on Thursday that an unspecified projectile struck a container ship approximately 35 nautical miles north of Jebel Ali Port, resulting in a limited fire onboard.

DP World is one of the largest port and logistics service operators globally, managing operations in various countries, including Canada, Peru, India, and Angola.

In terms of financial performance, the company reported that profits attributable to the owners rose by approximately 43% last year to reach $1.07 billion, driven by strong performance in its ports and terminals, along with growth in logistics services.

Narayan highlighted that the ports and terminals sector delivered strong results supported by increased handling volumes and improved returns, with revenue per standard container (20-foot) rising by 8.5% year-on-year. He also mentioned that in 2025, the group consolidated its marine services operations under the unified brand of “DP World,” aiming to enhance its position as a comprehensive global logistics service provider.

The group continues to expand its operational capabilities and enhance integration between its commercial platform and the logistics sector through the “DP World One” operating model, focusing on disciplined capital allocation, operational excellence, and customer support amid current challenges while seizing investment opportunities that promote sustainable long-term growth.
