Disney Plans to Construct Its Seventh Theme Park in the UAE

Disney has announced plans for its seventh theme park, set to be located in the United Arab Emirates, as revealed by the entertainment giant on Wednesday.

This new waterfront resort will be constructed on Yas Island, situated on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi, which already features attractions such as the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, SeaWorld, and a waterpark.

Disney, in collaboration with Miral, the Abu Dhabi developer managing the project, aims to tap into the significant number of travelers—approximately 120 million—who pass through Abu Dhabi and Dubai annually.

While Abu Dhabi is often seen as more reserved compared to the vibrant nightlife and beaches of Dubai, it is also home to cultural landmarks such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi, with additional museums currently under construction.

This announcement comes in the lead-up to a visit by U.S. President Donald Trump to the Gulf region next week, where he has promised various business ventures involving Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE.

While Disney will oversee the design and development of the theme park, Miral will be responsible for its construction and operation. The California-based company will license its intellectual property and provide developmental and management support, as noted in a regulatory document.

Disney will not invest financial capital in the project but expects to receive royalties based on the resort’s earnings, alongside service fees.

Miral has played a crucial role in developing nearly all of the entertainment venues built on Yas Island.

There is currently no announced date for the park’s opening.

Following the news, Disney’s shares rose by over 9% during morning trading, coinciding with the release of their second-quarter financial results that surpassed analysts’ predictions.
