The Dubai Family Business Center, operating under the Dubai Chambers, recently held the latest session of its “Governance Series.” This event was attended by 21 representatives from various family businesses and focused on developing comprehensive legacy models that ensure long-term sustainability and growth.
In collaboration with the Indian Business and Professional Council in Dubai, the session provided practical strategies for family businesses to plan for their future. This included the establishment of suitable management and legal structures to facilitate smooth leadership succession and business continuity. Real-world case studies showcasing strategies that have reinforced institutional legacies in family businesses were also presented, emphasizing tools that enhance continuity and growth across generations.
During the session, Maha Al-Qarqawi, the Deputy Head of the Business Community Support Sector at Dubai Chambers, highlighted, “We are committed to supporting the continuity of family business legacies to strengthen their vital role in building a diverse and sustainable economy. This is achieved through the development of governance systems, management strategies, and leadership succession planning that align with the successes these companies have already accomplished, transforming their rich heritage into a driving force for a more prosperous future.”
The Governance Series is part of the Dubai Family Business Center’s initiative to offer a range of educational seminars addressing key issues relevant to family businesses, including laws and frameworks that form the foundation for effective leadership succession planning and business success. This series enables participants to learn from the experiences of other family businesses to enhance their operational systems.
The series aims to support family businesses in Dubai in overcoming common challenges, expanding their activities, and fostering connections and interactions among local, regional, and global family businesses, sharing success stories that span multiple generations and leveraging their experiences.
