His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the President of the Supreme Council of Energy in Dubai, chaired the 93rd meeting of the council, held virtually, with the attendance of H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the council.
In his remarks on this occasion, shared on the platform “X,” His Highness stated: “I chaired the 93rd meeting of the Supreme Council of Energy in Dubai, where we reviewed Dubai’s strategy aimed at expanding fuel retail outlets across the emirate to meet the growing demand and enhance service distribution efficiency. We discussed a number of strategic initiatives aimed at improving fuel supply services, focusing on ensuring smooth traffic flow at fuel stations and enhancing customer experience. We also addressed the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence technologies by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) across its operations. Notably, we are developing the world’s first AI-driven smart control system for gas turbines at the Jebel Ali Power and Water Production Complex. We also introduced the upcoming launch of the ‘Virtual Engineer’ at DEWA in June 2026, which is expected to enhance operational efficiency and improve institutional performance.
The meeting was attended by Ahmad Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the council, along with council members including Marwan bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, Abdullah bin Kalban, Managing Director of Emirates Global Aluminium, Hussein Sultan Lootah, CEO of ENOC Group, Juan Freile, General Director of Dubai Petroleum and DUSUP, and Mona Al Iseimi, Executive Director of Strategy and Corporate Governance at the Roads and Transport Authority.
The council reviewed Dubai’s strategy for expanding fuel retail outlets and discussed several strategic initiatives to facilitate the refueling process for consumers while ensuring smooth traffic at vehicle refueling stations.
Additionally, the use of artificial intelligence by DEWA in its operational processes was examined, with the development of the first smart control system for gas turbines globally at the Jebel Ali Power and Water Production Complex, and the expected launch of the ‘Virtual Engineer’ in June 2026 to enhance efficiency and performance.
H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer stated that in alignment with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, we continue to implement AI solutions in our pioneering projects, such as the Jebel Ali Power and Water Production Complex and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, to improve energy efficiency and clean energy. These efforts have contributed to lowering costs and increasing productivity and efficiency within the complex, which has a capacity of 3,860 MW, achieving a 21.5% increase, with expectations that clean energy will account for over 36% of the energy mix by 2030.
He added that this supports the targets of Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050, aiming for 100% of energy production capacity from clean sources by 2050.
Ahmad Buti Al Muhairbi also noted that the Supreme Council of Energy and Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) have taken a number of valuable measures to ensure the safety of fuel refueling operations at various stations and to improve vehicle traffic flow.
