One of the most prominent lottery platforms in the UAE, Emirates Draw, has announced a major shift in focus: the company has officially ceased operations within the country and is actively expanding internationally. This decision is a direct response to new regulatory requirements that were set by the UAE Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) at the end of 2023. According to Khaleej Times, the company already covers participants in more than 175 countries around the world.
“Emirates Draw fully complies with the new regulations set by GCGRA. After ceasing operations in the Emirates, we have refocused our resources on global markets,” a company spokesperson commented. The decision to move beyond the UAE has allowed the lottery to remain active while opening the way to new opportunities in the digital space.
New rules change the country’s gaming map
A new era for the UAE’s lottery industry began with the establishment of GCGRA, a body mandated to completely overhaul approaches to gambling and lotteries. Under the new regulations, only The Game LLC, operating under the brand name The UAE Lottery, has an official license to operate lottery activities in the country. All other organizations, including Emirates Draw, were forced to cease their presence in the local market.
Despite this, some exceptions are still allowed – in particular, Big Ticket and Dubai Duty Free lotteries, which continue to operate at the Emirates’ international airports. While most independent initiatives have disappeared from the market, Emirates Draw has not gone into the shadows – the company has undergone a complete transformation, retaining a loyal audience and the infrastructure to scale abroad.
Lottery restarts in the digital world
Following changes in the legal framework, Emirates Draw has moved its activities completely online. Today, the platform operates exclusively in digital format, and UAE residents no longer have access to the website or physical tickets. The service remains available to the rest of the world, including through the popular Little Draw product, which allows you to win up to $272,000 daily through three parallel draws for each ticket. “We no longer have a physical presence in the UAE, but we remain available to an international audience wherever our online operation is permitted,” a company spokesperson explained. This strategic shift, although forced, has been an opportunity for Emirates Draw to strengthen its brand on the global stage, in a world where the digital gaming industry is only gaining momentum.
