Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation Joins The Global Aluminium Programme

Emirates Global Aluminium has welcomed the inclusion of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation into its “Challenge” initiative, which aims to enhance gender diversity within the industrial sector of the UAE.

This initiative, launched in November 2023 with the support of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, brings together leading industrial companies in a predominantly male-dominated field to promote gender diversity.

Participating companies are collaborating to implement joint initiatives that foster inclusive hiring practices, empower female talent, and establish a work culture that supports diversity.

One of the latest initiatives includes the development of a toolkit aimed at identifying inclusive policies and behaviors, as well as supporting their application throughout various stages in heavy industries.

Women make up approximately 20% of the workforce at the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, which is among the highest proportions in the global nuclear energy sector. They hold leadership positions in engineering, operations, nuclear safety, and management. The company also established the Barakah branch of the “Women in Nuclear” organization in 2014 and currently leads the Middle East chapter of this international group.

Core Commitment

Abdul Nasser Bin Kalban, CEO of Emirates Global Aluminium, stated: “We believe that gender diversity in teams enhances creativity and innovation, serving as a cornerstone for the success of the industrial sector in the UAE. We are pleased to welcome the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation to the ‘Challenge’ program, which unites leading national industrial companies to accelerate gender diversity and enhance women’s opportunities in the industry.”

Sharing Experiences

Mohammed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and CEO of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, remarked: “Women are key partners in our achievements at the Barakah plant, contributing to sustainable energy and the development of the nuclear energy sector while inspiring future leaders. By joining the ‘Challenge’ program, we aim to share our experiences and collaborate with industrial leaders to strengthen women’s presence in the advanced industries of the nation.”

With the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation’s addition, the “Challenge” program now includes nine leading national industrial companies. The Nimma Foundation for the Advancement of Women is providing strategic consultancy as the knowledge partner for the program.
