Etihad Airways has reported that July has set a record as the busiest month for aircraft deliveries in the airline’s 22-year history, having taken delivery of five new planes. This includes the first Airbus A321LR, two Boeing 787 Dreamliners, an Airbus A350-1000, and an Airbus A320ceo.
The airline indicated that this remarkable month underscores its commitment to rapid growth, aiming to transport 38 million passengers annually by 2030.
The addition of these five aircraft significantly enhances Etihad Airways’ capacity across its expanding global network.
Antonio Neves, the chief executive of Etihad Airways, stated: “July has been our most intense month for aircraft deliveries to date, highlighting our ambitious growth trajectory. These aircraft will enable us to serve more destinations, increase flight frequencies, and provide the exceptional experiences our guests expect throughout our network.”
Each type of aircraft fulfills specific needs for various routes; for instance, the Boeing 787 Dreamliners will bolster long-haul flights to destinations in Asia, Australia, and North America, while the Airbus A350-1000 will enhance capacity on high-demand routes.
With these new additions, Etihad’s fleet now consists of 106 aircraft, making it one of the youngest fleets in the world with an average aircraft age of 8.7 years.
The aircraft deliveries support the expansion of Etihad Airways’ network, which the airline recently announced, including 27 new destinations and increased frequencies on existing routes.
The airline has experienced remarkable growth, having transported over 20 million passengers in the past year, a milestone that doubles the figures recorded in 2022.
Etihad’s fleet expansion program extends beyond July, with plans to receive an additional 20 aircraft annually in 2025 and 2026.
