Etihad Airways has announced the launch of a seasonal service to Dhaka, Bangladesh, starting from June 26, 2026, aimed at strengthening trade and cargo connections across the South Asia corridor.
According to Etihad Airways, the service will operate four flights weekly to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, enhancing the air link between Abu Dhabi and Bangladesh. This move supports the ongoing growth in cargo flows along with the demand for passenger flights within the airline’s global network, with Abu Dhabi serving as a key trade gateway between South Asia and international markets.
The new route will be operated using Boeing 777 aircraft, featuring 28 business class seats and 374 economy class seats, thereby offering significant cargo capacity on the wide-body planes.
This service is part of Etihad Airways’ phased strategy to rebuild and expand its network, providing capacity in line with demand in key markets.
Antonuvaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, emphasized that Dhaka is a strategically important market experiencing strong and sustained demand in both the passenger and cargo sectors. This service allows them to provide capacity where it is most needed, enhancing connections between Bangladesh, the UAE, and major global markets.
The UAE hosts one of the largest Bangladeshi communities worldwide, and the new service will offer direct flights for families, along with seamless connections through Abu Dhabi.
Additionally, the seasonal service will facilitate connections for the substantial Bangladeshi communities in the UK, Italy, and North America, enabling easy travel from Abu Dhabi to Dhaka. It will cater to travelers flying between Abu Dhabi and Dhaka, as well as those with onward connections to other destinations.
