The first flight from flydubai arrived at Damascus International Airport (DAM) on June 1, celebrated with a water cannon display. This flight signifies the beginning of daily services provided by flydubai to Damascus.
This event reinstates air travel links between the United Arab Emirates and Syria after a hiatus of nearly 12 years.
His Excellency Hassan Ahmed Al Shehhi, the UAE Ambassador to Syria, expressed: “We are delighted to share the news of the UAE national carrier, flydubai, resuming its flights to the Syrian Arab Republic. This achievement underscores the strong and friendly relations between our two countries and highlights the UAE’s ongoing efforts to improve air travel connectivity, reinforcing economic partnerships and linking our peoples. We regard this moment as a significant advancement toward the complete re-establishment of UAE airlines operating in Syria, and it will facilitate the provision of high-quality services to the Syrian populace, addressing passenger travel needs.”
He further emphasized the UAE’s unwavering support for Syria and its citizens. This dedication aims to bolster security and stability, assist Syria in its journey towards growth and prosperity, and aligns with the deep-rooted ties that connect our nations.
