Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, has issued a decree to increase the salaries of civil servants by 20 percent, Khaleej Times has reported. The decision will come into effect from February 1. It is yet another indication of Sheikh Hamad’s desire to provide employees with financial stability, which will positively affect the efficiency of government institutions.
Officials believe that such a move is in line with the strategic plans of the Fujairah government, which focuses on supporting the well-being of citizens and their families. The financial boost should not only ease the financial obligations of civil servants, but also contribute to better motivation and productivity in the emirate’s organizations.
UAE citizens expect salary increases
In parallel, the positive trend in salaries continues in the UAE: according to a recent survey, 74 percent of respondents expect an increase in 2025. According to the GCC Salary Guide 2025, published by Hays, almost half of the country’s workers (48 percent) have already received a raise in 2024, mostly in the range of 2.5 to 5 percent.
At the same time, 72 percent of UAE nationals are confident that their salaries will continue to increase, while 28 percent do not expect any change. The rate of increase in the Emirates has been more stable compared to the overall indicators in the Gulf region (51 percent), but the increase in remuneration in the UAE is generally higher than average. A separate study shows that men in the region generally receive larger bonuses and additional monetary incentives than women.
AI professionals
Salary growth is predicted to be more significant for specialists working in fast-growing industries, including artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity and related high-tech areas. Despite the wide range of specialists on the market, the demand for AI experts, cybersecurity specialists, renewable energy specialists and e-commerce specialists will remain particularly high in 2025.
This trend is due to the fact that the UAE pays increasing attention to the introduction of advanced technologies and supports the development of innovative sectors of the economy. Recruitment experts agree that in the future these industries will bring the highest level of earnings and attract the most investors and talented specialists to the region.
