Italian Trade Agency Strengthens Strategic Presence at “WETEX 2025”

Engaging in the ongoing participation of Italian firms at the exhibition over the past 12 years, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, acknowledged that major Italian companies view the exhibition as a premier platform for showcasing the latest solutions and products, forging agreements, exploring investment opportunities in the UAE and the region, and enhancing commercial partnerships.

The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) is celebrating 12 years of consistent involvement in the WETEX exhibition, organized by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, underscoring its long-standing commitment to fostering Italian innovation in the energy, water, and sustainability sectors.

As the official governmental body responsible for promoting international trade for Italy, the agency plays a vital role in connecting Italian excellence with global markets.

At WETEX 2025, scheduled from September 30 to October 2, the agency will lead a large pavilion featuring 50 exhibitors over an area of 600 square meters, including significant participation from startups and new innovators.

This ongoing presence illustrates the agency’s message of empowering Italian companies to form effective regional partnerships and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals in the United Arab Emirates.

Al Tayer remarked: “The United Arab Emirates and Italy share strong strategic ties, grounded in enduring connections and a shared vision for global advancement.”

Since elevating relations to a strategic partnership level in 2023, this relationship has seen significant progress, with non-oil bilateral trade reaching $14.1 billion in 2024, reflecting a 21% increase compared to 2023.

The two countries collaborate closely in areas such as energy and sustainability, artificial intelligence, space exploration, and international development.

Lorenzo Fanara, Italy’s ambassador to the UAE, stated: “WETEX serves as a key platform to exhibit the latest Italian technologies in renewable energy, water management, and environmental innovation.”

With 50 Italian firms participating in a dedicated 600 square meter space this year, our involvement underscores the depth of Italian expertise and the strength of our bilateral relations with the UAE.

Events like WETEX are crucial for fostering new industrial partnerships, supporting small and medium-sized Italian enterprises in the region, and contributing to the UAE’s vision for a sustainable economy driven by innovation.

Valerio Soldani, Italian Trade Commissioner at the ITA office in Dubai, said: “WETEX represents the cornerstone of our mission to elevate Italian innovation on a global scale.”

By facilitating the development of effective business relationships and enhancing Italy’s role in the transition to clean energy, the Italian Trade Agency contributes to transforming opportunities into long-term successes for our companies.
