Kadyrov Participates in UAE Ambassador’s Son’s Wedding in Abu Dhabi

New Foreign Agent Legislation in Georgia Poses Risks for OC Media Team Members.

On Thursday, Ramzan Kadyrov, the Head of Chechnya, attended the wedding of Mohammad Ahmad Al Jaber’s son, the UAE Ambassador to Russia, in Abu Dhabi.

The occasion was hosted personally by Ambassador Al Jaber, who extended the invitation. Kadyrov shared his reflections on the event via his Telegram channel, emphasizing the warm reception and congenial ambiance of the celebration.

To honor the guests from Chechnya, the traditional Arab dance al-Ayyala was performed alongside a song with the words: ‘My greetings to the Chechen people, filled with respect and warmth.’ Kadyrov described the performance as deeply touching and indicative of significant respect and camaraderie. He expressed optimism that the partnership with the ambassador would enhance mutual understanding and yield beneficial outcomes for both the UAE and Russia.

Kadyrov has a history of visits to the UAE, which includes both formal engagements and private escapades. In March 2025, he participated in a joint iftar, invited by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In December 2023, he met with the UAE president in Abu Dhabi to deliberate on strengthening bilateral relations.

Reports from investigative journalism indicated that Kadyrov’s private plane completed at least 14 trips to the UAE during 2021 to 2022. Throughout 2023 and 2024, his aircraft frequently traveled to Dubai and neighboring regions, involving both official discussions and participation in various events.

In 2015, discussions took place between Kadyrov and the then Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, focusing on mechanisms to foster and advance small businesses in Chechnya. Furthermore, Kadyrov’s wife, Medni Kadyrova, established the Firdaws fashion label in Dubai in 2012, and their daughter, Aishat, showcased a collection in 2017.

Recently, reports have surfaced regarding potential tensions between Kadyrov and the Kremlin. Sources indicate that Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) expressed displeasure over Kadyrov’s unsanctioned talks with Gulf monarchy representatives regarding his assets and his family’s security. Allegations suggest these conversations were held without Moscow’s consent, resulting in strained connections.

In light of these developments, there are rumors regarding a potential move for Kadyrov’s family to the UAE. Some independent media outlets in Russia, including Vazhnye istorii (iStories), reported that sources alleged he is in the process of relocating assets abroad, including acquiring property in both Qatar and the UAE. However, no official acknowledgment has been made regarding these assertions.

Earlier in May 2025, Kadyrov declared his intent to step down, citing the necessity for new leadership in Chechnya. However, after a discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he refuted the resignation speculation and continues to hold the position of head of the republic.
