Mahzooz warns residents about fake sites

The organizers of the weekly Mahzooz lottery have issued an official warning to the public, urging UAE residents to be extremely vigilant when interacting with online resources associated with their platform. The statement was published on Friday and came in response to reports of an increase in the number of fake sites that imitate the official Mahzooz resource, misleading gullible users, Khaleej Times has reported.

Mahzooz has already established itself as one of the most famous lottery platforms in the UAE, which offers a chance to win big cash prizes every week to players from both the Emirates and abroad. According to the organizers, 45 participants have already become millionaires during the platform’s operation. Therefore, it is quite understandable why this system attracts not only players, but also scammers who try to use the brand for criminal activities.

Mahzooz Tips: How to Avoid Being a Victim of a Fake Website

As part of its cybersecurity awareness campaign, the Mahzooz platform has released a list of tips for users aimed at protecting their personal and financial data. The key tip is to use only the official website, which has the address www.mahzooz.ae. All other resources, even if they look identical, have no relation to the platform and can be dangerous. The organizers recommend:

  • Carefully check the web address (URL) before clicking on links – even in letters, messages or advertisements.
  • Do not provide any personal information, especially passwords, bank card details or other financial information, on resources other than the official website.
  • Ignore all requests to share private data if they come from unknown sources, even if they look legitimate.
  • Particular attention should be paid to the search results on Google – some fake sites are promoted through advertising, trying to intercept traffic to the official platform.
  • In its messages, Mahzooz also emphasizes: no official channel ever asks to enter or send confidential data via email, phone or third-party sites.

Cyberattacks on lottery platforms: how not to fall into the trap

In a letter sent to registered participants, Mahzooz reported that several clone websites have now appeared that imitate the design, logo and functionality of the platform. The main goal of such resources is phishing: collecting personal information, bank details or other sensitive data under the guise of participating in the lottery.

Cybersecurity experts note that such schemes often turn out to be part of broader hacking campaigns that can lead to theft of funds, compromise of personal accounts, and in some cases even to the use of data for blackmail or access to corporate systems. Mahzooz reminded that all interaction with players is conducted exclusively through the official website and confirmed email addresses, no third-party services or lottery participation aggregators are used.
