The Ministry of Finance has unveiled the Electronic Invoicing System (4-Corner model), marking a significant advancement in the digital transformation journey of the United Arab Emirates. This initiative allows businesses to seamlessly exchange electronic invoices via approved channels.
This system is a crucial step toward establishing a fully automated and integrated digital financial framework. Now, businesses across the nation can share electronic invoices through service providers authorized by the Ministry of Finance (ASP). They can access the “Emarat Tax” platform managed by the Federal Tax Authority to select from these approved service providers and initiate the electronic invoicing process.
To join the electronic invoicing system, businesses must enter into a commercial agreement with their chosen approved service provider, complete the necessary onboarding procedures, and start exchanging electronic invoices. With this service, transactions between suppliers and buyers can occur directly, enhancing operational efficiency and bolstering security, compliance, and transparency while streamlining processes and fortifying connections within the business ecosystem of the country.
Efficiency and Transparency
Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, emphasized that the system reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its digital financial ecosystem in line with global best practices. The launch of the Electronic Invoicing System (4-Corner model) will improve the efficiency and transparency of commercial transactions while supporting compliance and integration within the tax framework. He urged businesses to proactively adopt this system and leverage its potential to align with the UAE’s vision of enhancing economic competitiveness and future readiness.
As part of expanding this initiative, a feature for tax reporting (Corner 5) is set to be launched ahead of the planned pilot phase in July this year, strengthening the UAE’s dedication to continuous innovation and its leadership in digital taxation. The implementation of the Electronic Invoicing System (4-Corner model) adheres to global best practices, providing a comprehensive, scalable, and interoperable framework for electronic invoicing that supports future growth and innovation.
The Ministry also calls on businesses to take proactive steps by selecting an authorized service provider, completing the necessary contractual arrangements, and starting the onboarding process. This initiative enables them to fully harness the capabilities of the electronic invoicing system, underscoring the UAE’s commitment, represented by the Ministry of Finance, to continue developing a world-class digital infrastructure, facilitating ease of doing business, and building a data-driven advanced economy.
