The United Arab Emirates and the United States are collaborating with technology leaders to introduce Stargate UAE, a significant AI infrastructure initiative scheduled for 2026.
In a noteworthy advancement for artificial intelligence and international collaboration, G42, OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, SoftBank, and Cisco have formed a partnership to establish Stargate UAE.
The 1-gigawatt AI computing cluster will be a component of a larger 5-gigawatt UAE–US AI Campus based in Abu Dhabi, designed to support extensive AI operations and stimulate innovation across various industries.
The project will be developed by G42 and co-managed by OpenAI and Oracle, while Cisco will ensure cybersecurity and connectivity, and NVIDIA will provide its latest Grace Blackwell GB300 systems.
The initial phase of the project is expected to make its first 200-megawatt cluster operational by 2026, delivering regional low-latency processing and high-performance AI computing infrastructure.
The expansive UAE–US AI Campus will cover 10 square miles and will be powered through a combination of nuclear, solar, and natural gas energy sources. Additionally, the campus will feature a science park focused on research and workforce training.
Unveiled in the presence of leaders from both nations, this initiative aligns with the newly formed US-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership framework, aimed at promoting responsible and secure AI development.
The initiative also encompasses mutual investments in the US, featuring projects such as Stargate US, in support of the America First Investment Policy. Stargate UAE marks the inaugural international expansion of OpenAI’s initiative for countries and underscores the aim of diversifying global AI innovation.
This endeavor underscores the increasing significance of international collaboration in building AI infrastructure and illustrates the UAE’s commitment to leading technological progress through strategic partnerships and sustained investment.
